Buddhist monk and Reiki Master Hyakuten Inamoto
Buddhist monk and Reiki Master Hyakuten Inamoto is the founder of the Kyoto Healing Centre where he holds weekly classes and Reiki shares for both Japanese and foreign students.
Although officially belonging to Jodo-Shu or the Pure Land branch of Japanese Buddhism, Hyakuten-sensei is a non-sectarian and independent monk who seeks authentic spiritual experiences (“trying not to be just a functionary carrying out the ceremony”). When asked about his temple, Hyakuten-sensei answers in his typically wise yet humorous fashion: “I do not live in a temple or monastery. I am the temple. People are the temple. My temple is where I am. It is a mobile temple.”
Komyo ReikiDo, the system Hyakuten-sensei has created, presents Reiki as it was understood and commonly practiced in the 1930’s in Japan. This system places emphasis on spiritual enfoldment through the practice of Reiki Ryoho, aiming for “satori” or enlightenment.
Hyakuten-sensei learned Reiki from Mrs. Chiyoko Yamaguchi who had trained with Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, one of Usui-sensei’s original students.
